Unleash Your Inner Actor

Home to many great films, here you can feel like the star of your own feature film

From fighting off Transformers to saving the Declaration of Independence, when you get off your bus in Philadelphia there are plenty of places to see if you’re ready to recreate some of your favorite movie scenes!

Rocky

Let’s face it, there’s no way you’re going to Philly and not thinking about running up the famous steps like Rocky Balboa. But while you’re here, check out the other places that helped tell this true underdog story. Don’t forget to make your own training montage while running around the city!

  • Cole Sear’s Street – St. Albans Street at 23rd Street
  • Cole’s house – 2302 St. Albans Street
  • St. Augustine’s Catholic Church – 4th Street at New Street

End your tour by paying tribute to the Rocky Statue – to the right of the Museum of Art steps.

National Treasure

The historical importance of Philadelphia can’t be missed on any visit to this city – nor can it be missed in the movie "National Treasure." As Ben Gates and his team race to decode a message on the back of the Declaration of Independence they find themselves in Independence Hall in Philadelphia where they discover one of Benjamin Franklin’s own creations to help them solve the riddle. While the city’s time in the film may be brief, there are still plenty of places featured in the film to see.

  • The Franklin Institute – 222 North 20th Street
  • Independence Hall – 111 South Independence Mall West
  • Washington Square – Walnut Street & South 6th Street

With historical clues hidden in each place for the characters, maybe you’ll stumble across treasures of your own while you’re here.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

As the second installment in the franchise, “Revenge of the Fallen” takes fans back to Philadelphia, Sam Witwicky is trying to leave the Autobots behind to start a normal life as a freshman in college. Things go as planned until his mind is filled with cryptic symbols and the Decepticons bring him back into the Transformers’ war.

  • The University of Pennsylvania – 1 College Hall
  • Free Library of Philadelphia – 1901 Vine Street
  • Philadelphia City Hall – 1401 John F Kennedy Boulevard

The Sixth Sense

Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller "Sixth Sense" was filmed largely in the historic Old City and Society Hill neighborhoods. Hopefully, unlike young Cole Sear, you won’t be haunted by visions of dead people while you’re touring these places. Keep an eye out for paranormal activity around these parts of Philly:

  • The University of Pennsylvania – 1 College Hall
  • Free Library of Philadelphia – 1901 Vine Street
  • Philadelphia City Hall – 1401 John F Kennedy Boulevard
