Dream life of a nomad driver
Greyhound has actually given me a lot of experience of driving and being able to see new places and meet new people, things that I could only dream as a kid of going to.
My name is Jason Futch and I'm a driver out of Seattle Washington for Greyhound lines.
Growing up we didn't have a lot of money. Just struggling to make ends meet. I didn't really get to see a lot growing up because we just weren't able to travel.
Now with Greyhound, and me being employed with them, I'm able to do all kinds of things that I never thought would be possible.
I love working for Greyhound because it gives me an opportunity to meet new people. People who use the Greyhound either on a daily basis - which I've met people who use it every day -, people who use it to go to work, people who use it to go to family gatherings. Being able to have these people share their stories with me, it's just incredible. That's what makes being a driver great. You get to know people.
My responsibility as a driver is to make sure that my passengers do get there safely. Make sure the Wi-Fi works. Make sure the plugs work. Make sure they have an awesome experience the whole trip through.
One of the things that I do as a driver is document my travels. On my Instagram account I actually share photographs of the places that I go to and I share the experience. It shows you that even the bus driver can have a good time too.
One thing I want my passengers to know is I'm just like them. I've been in your shoes. I've been in that seat before. And I know how you feel.
