Employees To Participate In Wheelchair Basketball Game

FAYETTEVILLE (February 10, 2000)

Employees of the Fayetteville Greyhound terminal will donate $1000 and participate in a wheelchair basketball game with the K&W Kings, a sports team in Fayetteville which provides athletes with mobility impairments the opportunity to participate in sporting events. Founded in March 1998, the K & W Kings started a sporting league in Cumberland County, North Carolina which includes men, women and children.

The event will begin Friday at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Greyhound terminal at 324 Person Street. The K&W Kings will use the donation to purchase a special wheelchair used specifically to play basketball. Directly following the presentation of the donation, Greyhound employees will play the K&W Kings in a game of wheelchair basketball. The game will take place at the Boys and Girls Club at 333 Ray Avenue.

"Through events like this, we hope our employees will become more sensitive to passengers needing special assistance," said Paulette Bennett, terminal manager.
