DALLAS (Nov. 20, 2013) — Greyhound today released the following statement from President and CEO Dave Leach regarding the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) final rule requiring seat belts on all new motorcoaches starting in 2016:
“As the largest operator of intercity bus transportation in the country, Greyhound is committed to providing the nearly 18 million customers we transport each year a safe travel experience. In 2009, Greyhound took an industry-leading step to install three-point seat belts on all of its new motorcoaches, with nearly 600 of them in our fleet today. We congratulate NHTSA for recognizing the importance of this issue and making the requirement for seat belts on all new motorcoaches a federal rule.”
Greyhound is the largest North American provider of intercity bus transportation, serving more than 3,800 destinations across the continent. The company also provides Greyhound Package Express (GPX) and charter services. For fare and schedule information and to buy tickets call 1-800-231-2222 or visit the website at www.greyhound.com.
