Harlem Globetrotters Strike Landmark Deal with Greyhound Lines; World’s largest provider of intercity bus transportation becomes the “Official Bus of the Harlem Globetrotters”
PHOENIX (Oct. 20, 2010) – The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters today announced their partnership with Greyhound Lines, Inc. in a landmark agreement that will make the largest provider of intercity bus transportation the “Official Bus of the Harlem Globetrotters.”

For the upcoming world tour in 2011, the Harlem Globetrotters and Greyhound will log over 60,000 miles together as they spread the Globetrotter magic to fans in more than 200 cities across North America.

Joining more than 25 million passengers who ride Greyhound each year, the Harlem Globetrotters will experience the transportation giant’s world class professional driving as well as the launch of a new fleet of buses that will feature free Wi-Fi, electrical outlets and increased leg room.

“Both the Harlem Globetrotters and Greyhound have a storied history of bringing families together in their own unique way,” said Peter LaPointe, Globetrotters senior vice president, partnership & marketing. “Traveling tens of thousands of miles every year as the world’s premier family show, it’s a perfect fit for us to join forces with a leader in ground transportation.”

With a three-year, seven-figure deal through 2013, Greyhound becomes the fifth national sponsor to join the Globetrotters family for their 85th consecutive year, along with Howard Johnson Hotels, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Spalding, all of which recently renewed their partnerships with the legendary franchise–and long-time partner Campbell Soup Company, currently in the midst of a three-year renewal with the Globetrotters.

The Harlem Globetrotters will celebrate their 85th consecutive season in 2011, continuing a world famous tradition of ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that continues to thrill fans of all ages. Throughout their history, the Globetrotters have showcased their iconic talents to more than 130 million fans in 120 countries on six continents. Breaking down barriers between cultures, societies and people from all walks of life, the Globetrotters are one of only six teams to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
