Calgary, AB (October 15, 2000) Greyhound Canada is pleased to announce the return of its high school academic reward program, Travel is Educational, Too! This exciting national program, celebrating its fifth year, is designed to encourage and reward the scholastic achievement of Grade 12 students across the nation. Greyhound Canada provides qualified students with the opportunity to win exciting and enriching travel prizes, as well as scholarships to help further their education. The contest also provides an opportunity to win dozens of other prizes from participating sponsors.
In all, over 50 prizes will be presented in May, 2001. Random draws from all entries received locally will be held at 50 Greyhound depots across Canada, awarding 50 students with two, 30 day Greyhound Canada Passes, providing unlimited travel on the Greyhound Bus network from coast to coast. These passes have a cash value of over $1,000 and a priceless lifetime value.
The 50 lucky winners will also be eligible to win one of three scholarships which will be randomly awarded based on a second draw which includes only the 50 travel winners. Greyhound Canada and their promotional partners supply the three scholarships, each worth up to $2,000. Thousands of dollars worth of secondary prizes will also be awarded.
Even though it's free to enter not just anyone can participate because the standards are high. Only those Grade 12 students who achieve a GPA of 80 percent or higher on their 2000 spring transcript, or unofficial final 2000/2001 transcript, will be eligible to win. To enter, students simply need to drop off a copy of the appropriate transcript along with their full name, address and telephone number at any Greyhound depot in Canada.
Students are encouraged to start their studying early in the school year to ensure that they have a chance to win some of these great prizes and to perhaps enrich their lives with a travel experience that is educational, too!
