After breakfast, walk over to Bushnell Park. Located in the heart of Hartford, this spacious park has been around for over 130 years and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This park features a variety of trees such as the Chinese Toon and Turkey Oak, and a vintage carousel which only costs a dollar to ride. A must see while visiting the park is the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch, which honors the Hartford citizens who served in the Civil War and those citizens who died.

Since you are in Connecticut’s state capital, touring the capitol building is a must. Enjoy a free guided tour or pick up a guide booklet and do a self-guided tour. Explore the capitol and legislative chambers, discover the rich, historic displays and see the Connecticut Hall of Fame. The Capitol and Legislative Office Buildings are open Monday – Friday.
