Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America, today announced it has reached an agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1700 after several months of negotiations. The agreement, effective April 1, covers nearly 2,500 Greyhound drivers and maintenance employees and addresses matters such as wage, benefits and retirement security.
“We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with the ATU on our Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was set to expire on Mar. 31,” said Cathy Gerdes, senior director of labor relations, Greyhound Lines, Inc. “We value our employees and strive to make Greyhound an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.”
Because Greyhound and the ATU are interested in achieving the same goal, which is retaining drivers and maintenance staff, and offering them fair and competitive wages and benefits packages, both parties were able to reach a suitable three-year agreement that benefits everyone.
