Greyhound Lines, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America, today announced that it has ceased operations in Riverside, Calif. effective Monday, July 31. Beginning Aug. 1, Riverside residents can board the bus in San Bernardino, Calif. at 596 North G. Street, about 11 miles away from Riverside.
Due to unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a new lease at its current location, or secure another location within the city limits of Riverside, Greyhound was required to cease operations after serving the community for 60 years.
“Greyhound is extremely disappointed to have to end operations in the City of Riverside,” said Paul Egger, regional vice president, Greyhound Lines, Inc. “We were hopeful the City would work with us on negotiating a new lease, or assist us in finding an alternative location that would allow us to continue to serve the community. However, because the City opted to take court action and evict us instead, tens of thousands of people will be disenfranchised from access to affordable and reliable intercity bus transportation. We understand the inconvenience this will cause Riverside residents, and we are deeply sorry for the disruption.”
The Greyhound San Bernardino station provides full-service ticketing and Greyhound Package Express service. Greyhound operates 26 daily schedules from the San Bernardino station to destinations including San Diego, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Tickets can be purchased at the station, online at Greyhound.com or over the phone at 1-800-231-2222.
