DALLAS (Feb. 15, 2016) – Greyhound, the official bus company of the Harlem Globetrotters, is excited to welcome the fun, dynamic basketball team to its Los Angeles station for an exclusive appearance. Special guests, students from Nevin Avenue Elementary School, as well as customers, will have an opportunity to witness the team’s signature tricks and ball-handling skills up close and personal.
The Globetrotters’ performance will take place on Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Los Angeles Greyhound station, located at 1716 E. 7th Street. Along with showcasing their unique talent, the team’s visit will incorporate character lessons that Nevin Avenue Elementary School students can take back to school and their community. Known as the “Ambassadors of Goodwill™,” the Globetrotters often combine valuable principles, such as responsibility, cooperation and sportsmanship, with an entertaining performance geared toward children.
“The Harlem Globetrotters are more than just entertaining basketball players,” said Globetrotters Showman Big Easy. “One of the most rewarding things we do is interact with kids. We like to reach them early and give them character-building tools that help prepare them for situations they may encounter as young adults.”
“Inviting the Harlem Globetrotters to our terminal is always an exciting opportunity for students and customers waiting to travel,” said Edward VanHeel, regional vice president, Greyhound Lines, Inc. “These appearances give kids an opportunity to see these athletes in a way they might not get the chance to otherwise. Not to mention, it’s always a fun surprise for customers to see Globetrotters perform before heading out of town.”
Fans in Los Angeles can catch the Harlem Globetrotters’ unrivaled family show at the Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Tickets are available at harlemglobetrotters.com.
