Greyhound Expects More Than One Million Customers to Travel for Christmas
DALLAS (Dec. 17, 2014) — Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, is gearing up for one of the busiest holiday seasons, with nearly a million customers expected to travel to more than 3,800 destinations across North America.
With Christmas and New year's approaching, Greyhound reiterates to customers that traveling by bus is one of the safest, most convenient and affordable ways to travel this holiday season. With no middle seat, customers can travel more comfortably and enjoy the aisle or window seat, as well as other modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets, extra legroom and leather seats.
"This season is all about spending time with family and friends, and we offer our customers a safe, dependable and hassle-free option that allows them to avoid the stress of driving their car or traveling via other modes of transportation," said Myron Watkins, vice president, customer experience, Greyhound Lines, Inc. "Customers can sit back, relax and enjoy the trip."
Greyhound also eliminates the concern of travel expenses. With fares starting as low as $1, customers can book affordable travel and save their money for the holidays. The first bag also can be checked for free, with the second bag only $15.
This holiday season, Greyhound once again anticipates heavy customer volume and encourages customers to purchase tickets in advance and arrive at least one hour before their scheduled departure time. Tickets are valid only on the date and schedule for which they were purchased. If customers wish to change travel arrangements, tickets can be re-issued for a fee if seats are available.
"We expect the highest demand to be Dec. 23 and Dec. 24, as these are the peak days when most customers travel to their holiday destinations," said Andy Kaplinsky, chief commercial officer, Greyhound Lines, Inc. "We encourage customers to buy tickets now, to ensure that they get a seat on their desired schedule at the lowest fares. If possible, customers should consider traveling on off-peak travel dates to allow for more schedule options."
To improve customers' experience, the transportation leader offers self-service ticketing kiosks at major terminals; Wi-Fi enabled terminals and a book on-line/pay with cash service. Tickets can be purchased on www.greyhound.com, on the new Greyhound mobile app, by calling 1-800-231-2222 or at company terminals and agencies.
Along with the company's traditional service, its popular Greyhound Express© service offers direct service between more than 1,000 intercity pairs in more than 120 major cities, covering more than a third of the company's North American network. Customers can purchase their ticket at www.mygreyhoundexpress.com, print their ticket at home or pick it up at a self-service ticketing kiosk, and know a guaranteed seat is waiting for them. Additionally, customers who book Greyhound Express tickets can relax in private waiting areas, with a dedicated guest services specialist to provide an extra level of customer assistance.
