DALLAS (January 23, 2012) – On Wednesday, Feb. 1, Greyhound opens the
doors of its newly designed, environmentally friendly Nashville station,
prior to its first day of business on Thursday, Feb. 2. Built on 1.43
acres, the Greyhound terminal is 8,450 square feet with eight bus bays,
40 parking spaces, a sleek, modern façade and a restaurant serving hot
meals and snacks. “We are excited to begin operating from this new
facility,” said Myron Watkins, vice president of customer experience,
Greyhound Lines, Inc. “The station offers a centralized location for
passengers to travel in and out of the city, and its environmentally
friendly design really showcases our focus on sustainability and the
full customer experience. We are pleased to provide this new facility
and look forward to serving our Nashville customers for years to
come.” Located at 709 Fifth Ave. South, the terminal is the third
LEED-certified Greyhound prototype terminal to open in North America.
The facility uses strategies that improve energy savings, water
efficiency, CO2 emissions and indoor environmental quality. Design
features incorporated on the Nashville build include: • Pervious
concrete pavement to customer parking lot • A Bio Swale retention
pond, utilized as part of the storm water system • Water efficient
landscaping • Low water use plumbing fixtures and fittings
throughout • High efficiency multi zoned and controllable HVAC system
• Automated lighting control regulated by natural lighting
levels • High efficiency fluorescent and LED lighting •
Selection of materials being utilized prioritized based on recycled
content • Low E reflective glazing to reduce solar heat gain•
Regionally sourced materials The public is invited to tour the
facility and hear comments from Nashville Mayor Karl Dean,
Greyhound’s Vice President of Customer Experience Myron Watkins and a
number of other city officials regarding the new facility. The event
begins from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with food and refreshments being
