DALLAS (Feb. 5, 2009) – When Greyhound Lines, Inc. asked America to pick a celebrity road trip buddy, it was no contest: Drew Barrymore won by a mile.
Greyhound, the master of road trips, conducted its first-ever “Hit the Road” survey, a poll of 1,000 nationally representative American adults, and asked, “Which of the following celebrities would be your ideal road trip buddy?” Barrymore was the clear winner, followed by late night host and comedian Jay Leno, and media mogul and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey. Country music sweetheart Faith Hill and “TODAY” host Matt Lauer rounded out the top five.
The results of the unique survey were a hot topic when the star of the new film “He’s Just Not That Into You” appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Wednesday, Feb. 4. “This is the coolest story ever. I got so excited about this!” said Barrymore. “I feel like I would be fun to sit next to. I’d be entertaining and engaging and I’d always have fun games to play.” Footage from the interview will be available at http://www.hulu.com/watch/56212/the-tonight-show-wed-feb-4-2009#s-p1-so-i0.
Grammy-Award winning rapper and actor Ludacris, IndyCar racer Danica Patrick, and NFL Football Hall of Famer John Madden completed the survey list.
About the Greyhound “Hit the Road” Survey
The Greyhound “Hit the Road” Survey was conducted online by Kelton Research in March 2008. Quotas are set to ensure a reliable and accurate representation of the total population of Americans ages 18 and over. Results of any sample are subject to sampling variation. In this particular study, the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3.1 percentage points from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.
