Battle of the Bands Provides Scholarship and Spotlights Musicians
DALLAS (Sept. 20, 2000) - Greyhound Lines, Inc. and the Historically Black Collegiate Coalition (HBCC) have joined together for the third annual Greyhound Battle of the Bands concert series. Throughout the college football season, bands will be rocking bus terminals from New York City to Baton Rouge, La.
"The concert series affords Greyhound the opportunity to interact with the current university and alumni population," said Hal Gronfein, director, tactical marketing. "Exposing them to Greyhound and our convenient, affordable travel opportunities makes this a perfect event for us."
Greyhound will host Howard University Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., as the Showtime Marching Band performs at the Washington, D.C. terminal at 1005 1st NE. The band will perform an excerpt from its half-time show.
After the performance, Greyhound will present the band with a scholarship and provide band members with commemorative gifts. The Howard and Morgan State football teams will meet Sept. 23 at Green Staduim.
