Battle of the Bands Provides Scholarship and Spotlights Musicians
DALLAS (Sept. 28, 2000) - Greyhound Lines, Inc. and the Historically Black Collegiate Coalition (HBCC) have joined together for the third annual Greyhound Battle of the Bands concert series.
Greyhound will host Grambling State University this Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., as the Tiger Marching Band performs an excerpt from its half-time show in the rear parking lot of the Greyhound Dallas terminal at 205 S. Lamar.
"The concert series affords Greyhound the opportunity to interact with the current university and alumni population," said Hal Gronfein, director, tactical marketing. "Exposing them to Greyhound and our convenient, affordable travel opportunities makes this a perfect event for us."
Throughout the college football season, bands will be rocking bus terminals from New York City to Baton Rouge, La. After each performance, Greyhound will present the band with a scholarship and provide band members with commemorative gifts. The Grambling State and Prairie View A&M football teams meet later in the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl.
